Taliban demands US $ 3.5 billion: US seized during Taliban occupation, wanted to give to!
The
Taliban government of Afghanistan has demanded the US to return $ 3.5 billion.
This demand has arisen after the decision of the Federal Court of New York on
Wednesday. The court had ruled that the victims of 9/11 attack cannot use this
money.
In
fact, in August 2021, the Taliban had captured Afghanistan. After this America
had taken control of Afghan property. During this, American President Joe Biden
had said that he would use it to help the families of the 9/11 victims. The
Taliban were sued by some of the 9/11 victims' families, which they won. These
families wanted to repay the loan taken at the time of the case with this
money.
Court said - Taliban government will have to be
recognized
However, New York's Federal Court Judge George
Daniels said in his decision that the court does not have the right to
confiscate the money of Afghanistan Central Bank. Daniels said in his 30-page
opinion – Taliban should pay the compensation themselves, taking responsibility
for the most dangerous attack in the history of America, but America cannot
seize the money of the Afghan Central Bank. If he did so, it would simply mean
that America is giving recognition to the Taliban government.
Taliban-US cannot use money
The decision makes it clear that both Taliban and US
cannot use the assets of Afghanistan to repay the debt. Let us inform that till
now no country including America has recognized Taliban as the government of
Afghanistan.
US
should immediately return the money to Afghanistan
Taliban
in Afghanistan have welcomed this decision. Taliban government spokesman Bilal
Karimi said – This is the property of Taliban. America has no right to
confiscate it. This money should be returned to the people of Afghanistan
immediately without any conditions.
Taliban
captured Afghanistan in 2021
On
August 15, 2021, Taliban completely captured Afghanistan and declared Islam law
there. After this, the US had sealed $ 7 billion of the Central Bank, due to
which the economy of Afghanistan dependent on foreign aid had completely
collapsed. In February 2022, President Biden announced that the seized money
would be divided into two parts. A part of this will be given as aid to
Afghanistan and a part will be used to help the victims of 9/11 attacks.
The
9/11 attack was carried out by 19 Al-Qaeda terrorists
More
than 2,900 people died in the 9/11 terrorist attack. In the year 2001, 19
Al-Qaeda terrorists carried out the biggest terrorist attack in the US at the
World Trade Center, Pentagon and Pennsylvania simultaneously. The terrorists
had rammed two planes into the towers of the World Trade Center. The Pentagon
was attacked by a third plane, while the fourth plane crashed in Pennsylvania.
